There is printing on the reverse of the work as published and executed in a work commissioned for a Journal like DLM. It is worth noting that at the time, the publication was its dying days. Garache himself was an artist committed to figuration throughout the period in the 20th Century where abstraction, and later, minimalism was heralded as the preferred aesthetic. This work is typical of his style, working closely on the female form and in sanguine tones, Garache addresses abstraction through the indecipherable and the undefined. The form here resembles, on close inspection, the body of one caught in the wake of Vesuvius’ terror.
