As the creator and most consummate practitioner of Orphism, a movement Delaunay founded with her husband Robert, Sonia’s works are colourful and sensational in the truest sense of the word. Lines, angles and curving shapes intersect and becoming harmonised with Delaunay’s unique sense and use of colour, placing bright against bright, a stylistic trait. The effect was a stunning feast for the eye. The pochoir / gouache Salon offers is reminiscent of Delaunay’s textile designs, something that she practiced extensively during her career. This work was made for the deluxe art magazine Cahiers. It is one of the pochoirs outside the edition of 30 that was numbered and signed by Delaunay. It is estimated that this work,  was one of no more than 1500. The Delaunay on offer here is in excellent condition and rich in in colour and in excellent condition considering its age.
