The pristine nature of this work, without scuffing and without attenuation of the surface inks, represents exceptional value for the beginning buyer. The flat shapes that seemingly assemble in an adhoc manner slip about the surface of the space as the shapes intersect and criss-cross to form a cohesive whole. In and around this time, Picasso experimented with the lines and flat colours that reflected no light, that is the appearance of reality was far from the mind of the artist who had previously relied on the play of light to give his shapes three dimensionality. Such illusion is absent here.
