This New York painter remained faithful to the Hard Edge School of painting with success. Tauss’ works are typified by the play of hard lines crossing and dissecting the pictorial plane, and contrasting with colours of a pure and sometimes pastel tone. This is one of two works by Charles Tauss in the Inventory. Tauss was studio assistant to Josef Albers and was an internationally recognised conservator of painting (see Literature).
