The painterly quality of this work, coupled with the harmonious use of complementary colours is consistent with Charchoune’s oeuvre. This lithograph is, however, a departure from the abstraction that typified his work when he painted works influenced by Orphism, and previously, those with Dadaist influences. Interestingly, both schools of artistic philosophy and the works that emerged to challenge the views of artists and taste makers were influenced by Charchoune, an artist Picasso considered, along with Juan Gris, as one of the great painters.
