Mechanics and human interaction coalesce in the most gestural of ways in the black and white works of the 20th Century master, Franz Kline. Although he did not always works in such limited tones, ( King Oliver is an example having sold for $ 40 million dollars at auction, setting a record for this artist), colour is still evident even in this silkscreen, with the creams and grey emanating from the sweeping black strokes against the white on white background.
